Ancients were masters in the art of creating mosaics from sets of color stones. In fact not every mosaic was gigantic, architectonical masterpiece; most of them were indeed small pieces, in the manner of paintings or photos we hang on the wall. We propose a workshop for anybody willing to challenge himself with difficult and demanding task of creating such small, personal mosaic for private use.
During our presentation you will know and try what materials Ancients used and how they designed those- often extremely complicated- patterns and pictures by using hundreds and thousands of small pieces of stone, glass, shells and amber. Our gentle Fabia will tell you interesting histories connected to some of the mosaics and learn you about some famous pieces. She will also invite you to analyze, stone by stone, gigantic mosaic of Alexander, held in Neapolitan Museum.
